A new SJA course has been scheduled in Nanaimo with the following details:

Modern tongue diagnostics is a groundbreaking discipline that merges traditional tongue diagnosis with contemporary theories like holographic biology. Dr. Yin’s approach integrates the knowledge of classical Chinese medicine with his own innovative findings, including:

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Hongchun Yin graduated from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1988 and has since become a prominent figure in the integration of acupuncture and herbal treatments. He is known for pioneering the modern tongue diagnostics methodology and has authored several notable publications, including Modern Tongue Diagnostics in Chinese Medicine and Principles and Atlas of Yin’s Modern Tongue Diagnostics. He is currently the president of the International Association of Modern Tongue Diagnostics and serves as a consultant for various medical associations.

Title: Death, Dying & Palliative Care - Learnings from the End-of-Life Doula Program

Abstract:

By incorporating TCM principles and practices, palliative and end-of-life care teams can enhance symptom relief, improve emotional well-being, and foster a greater sense of peace for patients and their families during the end-of-life journey.

This 60-minute discussion will cover learnings from Douglas College’s End of Life Doula program and how these learnings can be integrated into TCMA practice. It is intended as an introduction to difficult subject matter touching on the topics of grief, palliative care, death and dying. TCM theory and western medicine concepts will be referenced throughout. It will not cover specific details about treatments or offer protocols to address specific illnesses.

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Kimberley Schneberk

Dr. Kimberley Schneberk (Dr.TCM) has focused much of her 22-year career on the treatment and care of those struggling with substance use and mental health disorders, developing and implementing TCM-based programs for various public and private agencies in BC. She has extensive experience working with traumatized and marginalized populations and has worked in diverse treatment settings from Vancouver’s DTES to both in-patient and out-patient treatment wards at two lower mainland hospitals. In 2015 Dr. Schneberk founded Canada’s first online TCM magazine, Medicinal Roots Magazine that proudly produced 39 issues in 10 years of publication. From 2017-2022 she was a member of CTCMA Board of Directors, where she also served as Vice-Chair, and as Vice-President of CARB-TCMPA from 2021-2022.

In 2023 her career in regulatory work continued, joining CTCMA as Practice Consultant, and following amalgamation on June 28, 2024, as Practice Advisor with CCHPBC (College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC). In 2022 she completed Douglas College’s End-of-Life Doula Program and has pursued much learning since in palliative and end-of-life care as well as understanding in all things “death and dying”. Currently, Dr. Schneberk provides acupuncture and TCM services to West Vancouver’s Avalon Recovery Society Women's Centre and maintains a part-time private practice at Moveo Sport & Rehabilitation Centre where she sees patients for palliative, acute and chronic health care needs
