CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2023-24 ATCMA BOARD OF DIRECTORS| 征集 2023-24 年度ATCMA理事会提名

 

Contribute your skills alongside a team of dedicated TCM and Acupuncture practitioners who work hard to grow our collective voice and advocate for the profession!

Director positions are open to ATCMA members in good standing who have been members for at least one year from the date of the election.

 

One-year term seats are up for election in the following districts:

  • Coastal District – 2 seats
    • The same as the boundaries of the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority including the Vancouver, Richmond and Coast-Garibaldi Health Service Delivery Areas
  • North OR Kootenay District – 1 seat total
    • Kootenay: the same as the boundaries of the East Kootenay and Kootenay Boundary Health Service Delivery Areas
    • North: the same as the boundaries of the Northwest, Northern Interior and Northeast Health Service Delivery Areas
  • First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) liaison – 1 seat
    • No physical boundary, open to any member with special interest or experience in Indigenous health and healing or cultural safety and humility. Indigenous candidates will be given priority in nomination and election.

Time commitment:

  • About 1 hour per week (sometimes 2+ for meetings or special events) on ATCMA work, primarily focused on activities undertaken by our committees and on special projects.  Committee descriptions appear below.
  • Four board meetings per year. Attendance is required per the bylaws, with minor exceptions.
  • Regular communication amongst board members and with ATCMA staff is expected.

Deadline for nominations: 5:00 pm on Friday, November 10,2023.

 

Voting (online) will take place from November 13 to 24, 2023.  The Board term begins immediately following the ATCMA AGM that will be held on November 26, 2023.  New and returning board members are expected to convene a brief meeting following the AGM.

 

ATCMA BOARD DIRECTOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All members of the ATCMA Board of Directors are responsible for:

  • Establishing and carrying out the mission, vision and strategic direction of the organization
  • Working with staff members to develop short- and long-term plans
  • Ensuring the organization’s programs and services are effective
  • Helping to secure operating funds (primarily through member recruitment) so the organization can continue to fulfill its mission
  • Reviewing and approving major expenditures, as well as the associated terms
  • Reviewing and approving the budget and providing ongoing financial oversight
  • Ensuring the organization meets all legal and ethical obligations
  • Maximizing the support of the member community
  • Regularly attending board meetings and committee meetings
  • Recruiting new board members who meet the needs of the board and the organization

Executive Committee

  • Comprised of the President/Co-Presidents, Vice President(s), Secretary and Finance Committee Chair
  • President/Co-Presidents:
    • Lead the board
    • Collaborate closely with staff leaders to ensure the organization is fulling its mission and achieving its goals
    • Oversee staff performance
    • Preside over board meetings
  • Vice President(s)
    • Acts as the board President’s/Co-Presidents’ understudy and second in command
  • Secretary
    • Responsible for official communications with board members
    • Assist staff with public communication
    • Take notes during all official board meetings
    • Prepare AGM agenda and call for nominations
  • Finance Committee Chair (in lieu of Treasurer)
    • Oversee the ATCMA’s finances, property, and budget

 

 

Education Committee

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement continuing education events for the ATCMA membership
    • Recruit speakers, instructors and presenters
    • Work with staff to plan and execute events
    • Work with staff and Marketing Committee to promote educational events

Finance and Budgeting Committee

  • Oversee the ATCMA’s finances, property, and budget
  • Working with ATCMA staff to:
    • Maintain financial records
    • Set and manage the annual budget
    • Prepare internal financial reports
    • Meet external reporting/funding requirements
    • Execute internal financial policies

Insurance Committee

  • Work with ATCMA staff to secure insurance (liability, health) benefits for members
  • Represent the interests of the ATCMA membership in discussions with insurers – ICBC, WSBC, private extended health benefits companies

Membership Committee

  • Work with ATCMA staff to:
    • Identify member needs, including through surveys
    • Keep current members updated on relevant events and information
  • Increase membership through recruitment programmes
  • Recommend and develop services to meet member needs
  • Encourage member participation in ATCMA events, forums and activities

Marketing and Communications Committee

  • Work with staff to promote current and potential member awareness of the resources, services, and membership benefits offered by the ATCMA.
  • Create and/or secure social media and newsletter content

 

 

Outreach and Advocacy Committee

  • Work with ATCMA staff to identify issues of concern to the profession and the membership.
  • Work with ATCMA staff to represent the membership on issues of concern to the profession when communicating with:
    • Policy and regulatory organizations such as the CTCMA/future regulatory College, provincial and federal Ministries of Health, the Government of BC and Canada
    • Elected officials
    • BC health authorities
    • BC TCM and Acupuncture schools
    • Provincial TCM and Acupuncture associations throughout Canada
  • Develop special projects that promote the TCM and Acupuncture profession for the benefit of the membership.

ATCMA理事会理事角色和责任
